Vilana Oaked Pirovolikes

The 30 year old vine vineyard "Pirovolikes" is planned with the grape Vilana, and is still being pruned traditionally as a bush vine. It is considered one of the most privileged vineyards of Lyrarakis estate. The vineyard is situated at 650m on a medium slope with rocky soil and a southeast aspect, and gives a wine of high concentration and aroma. The wine remains in French oak barrels for at least 2 months where it matures on lees. Medium yellow color with glints of gold at the edges. Intense aromas of wild flowers, luscious peers with light notes of mastiha. Unique velvety taste with a refreshing long finish.

This special wine was made after a thoroughly hand selections of the best grapes from the over 35yrs. The 2013 vintage was a great year and Lyrarakis estate decided to mature this wine for 24 monthis in new French oak barrels and keep the bottles for another 12 months in its cava begore released to us.

This superb wine 2013 qualitative synthesis Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with deep red color, aromas of dried fruits, notes of cinnamon and vanilla and dense in the mouth with fine tannins. Powerful bouquet with an intense long penetating finish.

WHITE

Bright platinum color. Fine notes of white fruit with delicate notes of ginger and lemon flowers. Marvelously ripe grapes have given this wine a rich and lightly mineral character.

Bright and lively pale yellow color. Mature aromas of grapefruit and lime anhanced by a persistent presence of rose petals. Elegant with pleasant acidity, fine balance and luxurious finish . Ageing in a stainless steel tank for 2 months.

Lyrarakis Melissaki

Melissaki is another unknown or forgotten grape variety rescued by the Lyrarakis winery. This wine is a bright yellow and green colour with an intense hebral nose and added notes of lemon. It offers a well- rounded mouth feel, dense texture and citrusy aftertaste. Aged in barrels for 3 monthes.

The Plyto grape variety was saved from extinction by Lyrarakis family, when it was planted in the "Psarades" family vineyard at 480m altitude in early 90s. Bright yellow color. An elegant wine, with clean fruiy aromas aromas of fresh melon and pear, a full and versatile mouth fell and slightly bitter end notes.

Dafni Psarades

The Dafni grape variety was saved from extinction by Lyrarakis family , when it was planted in the "Psarades" family vineyard at 480m altitude in early 90s. Its name deriver from the laurel (bay leaf) plant, which is called "Dafni" in Greek, as the wine produced resembles these aromas. Bright yellow with glints of green.

A wine with a distincetive herbal character, refreshing mouth feel and intense aromatic aftertaste, in a citrus fruit background.

Bright straw color with green hignlights. It has the typical expression of Sauvignon Blanc bouguet. At first, hints of herbal characters are apparent. As the wine breathes in the glass, mango and grapefruit aromas begin to emerge. The mouth contains an acidic quality that stings the nerves. This gives the wine a long aftertaste and a pleasant aromatic return.

A pale yellow hue with green highlights. The bouquet is explosive and typical of Muscat. At first it is dominated by aromas of rose but as the wine breathes, the essential citric oils begin to emerge. Luxurious finish with good balance between the alcohol, residual sugars and the acidity.

Clear bright color with green hues. Rich, dense legs. Delicate nose, with limestone, stonefruits, unripe citrus and plenty of minerality. The Roussanne gives the rich viscosity, while the Vilana gives the fresh acidity and minerality.

Bright yellow color. The initial bouquet is formed of distinctive fruit aromas, like peach and apricot and is complemented by hints of vanilla. After 36 months in the bottle, the bouquet will evolve into an aromatic combination of mineral characters, nuts, chocolate. The mouth is distinguished by its strong creamy consistency and metallic acidity. The aftertaste is long and confirms the presence of the 5 months oak barrel.

"Armi" is the world in the Cretan dialect to define the top of a mountainside. The vineyard "Armi" faces the east and lies at an altitude of 500m. Medium yellow colour aromas of citrus and dried fruits such as fig and apricot, coupled with sweet spices which have derived from the 3 months aging in barrel. Perfect equilibrium achieved between the aromas of toasted wood and fruit, impressinfg us with slightly acidic texture and the intense presence of bitter oranges.

Deep red color with ruby tint. The bouqiet reveals aromas typical of both Surah and Kotsifali. A mix of olive and pepper aromas bond with charasters such as cherries and cassis. The presence of the 12 months in barrel is evident with notes of vanilla and toasted bread. On the palate, the tannins are well balanced with the alcohol and the acitity, and the result is a well- structured wine. The aftertaste has a fruity return.

Clear bright red with rusty edge in color. Intense rustic nose with dried fruits, ripe berres and some nutty character. Medium bodied with smooth tannins, warm finish. This beautiful wine is produced only in 2500 bottles where the Romeiko matured and the Mandilari for 12 months. Limited bottles released.

The rare low-yield ’’Plakoura’’ vineyard is a premier cru slope at 500m. Very thorough cultivation helps to achieve extremely low yields, succeeding a very concentrated wine with deep, intense red color and an exsellent structure. In the nose, complex aromas of juicy plums, toffee and liquorish are superbly balanced by the chocolate and vanilla notes provided by its 12 months storage in new oak barrel. In the mouth it is well concentrated with a lively lingering finish.

Red-cherry color with Purple Shade. The bouquet is fruity and expressed with flavors cherry, plum, dogwood, over a background of dried fruits and herbs. The palate is distihguished from its sleek balance which is mainly based on acidity. The aftertaste is very long and the aromatic return evokes flavors of dried tomatoes. This wine was aged for at least 12 months in new American barrels.

Born out of patience , this wine matures for 24 an another 24 months ageing in the reducing enviroment of its bottle. Methy displays a deep red color , exuding strength and masculine aromas of green pepper, capres and red-skinned fruits against a baskground of oak. It has thick, distinctly balanced taste with a tannic presence which softened by time. Methy "2000" is a very rare vintage to be found nowadays.

The wine SYMBOLO was first released in the great 2005 vintage. Respecting their commitment to release this wine only in the great vintages that achieve excellence, they had to wait until the vintage of 2008, when a small quantity of grapes conviced them that a new SYMBOLO was born. Harmoniously and naturally ripened grapes of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot macerated gently and stayed for 24 months in new French oak barrels and another 36 months in its bottle. Intense ruby-red in color, SYMBOLO offers layered aromas of wild blackberries, graphite, smoke and forest floor. On the palate, these notes are intertwined with hints of sweet spice and violets. Stucturally it manages to show both powertul and elegant sides as it unfolds into a long, silky finish.

Two varieties Moshato and Vilana Joined together giving nose, with peach and with a touch of apricot. It’s a light – medium body wine with very fresh aftertaste.

Syrah (Surah 100 %)

Dark cherry color. The nose is very inviting, showing creaminess and a touch of vanilla, but also a smooth juicy-ripe black fruit. On the palate it is nicely pitched, with light note of black currant fruit and with good acidity and light tannins.
